Leslie Addison

Leslie Addison, born on June 6, 1962, in Lumberton, North Carolina, to the late Blanche Kemp and Robert “Bobby” Bell, peacefully entered eternal rest surrounded by her loving family on December 17, 2024. Leslie graduated from Lincoln High School in Jersey City, NJ. With a knack for helping others, Leslie’s professional career included Fleet Bank, Sunrise Senior Living and lastly BJs Wholesale Club. It was also not uncommon to see Leslie working alongside her eldest sister Gealine in her hair salons during her time living in NJ. Leslie was a woman of faith, compassion, and boundless love, whose legacy will forever live in the hearts of those who knew her.

Leslie has affectionately been referred to as the “glue” of her family. Family was her greatest joy, and she poured her heart into creating a home filled with love, laughter, and faith. She leaves behind her husband of 28 years, James Addison, her two children who she still referred to as her “babies” no matter their age, Jade and Jerel Addison. Her cherished siblings; Gealine Culver (husband, Bryson Culver), Kristal Kemp (partner Krishawn Madison), and Eric Kemp. A proud Aunt to her nieces, Shakemma Richardson, Lakerra Culver, and Brittany, her best friend turned sister of over 40 years, Gloria Lee and Grandson, Kamani Addison. Leslie was preceded in death by her son, Kamani Addison.

A talented and passionate cook (honorable mention to her fried turkey wings and macaroni and cheese), Leslie brought her family together with meals that nourished both body and soul. She also had a vibrant love for dancing, a gift she often used to bring joy to others, celebrating life through music and movement.

Leslie’s love for God and her family radiated through everything she did. She had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel cherished, and her generosity of spirit touched countless lives. Her faith was not just a belief but a way of life, inspiring her to be a beacon of light and hope to everyone she encountered.

Leslie leaves behind a legacy rooted in love, faith, and family. Though she will be profoundly missed by all who knew her, we rejoice in the knowledge that she is now reunited with her mother, Blanche and grandmother Relie whom she missed dearly. It is our prayer that she is dancing alongside them in the presence of the Lord, free and at peace.

“Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her.” — Proverbs 31:28

Rest in His arms, Leslie, until we meet again.

On behalf of the Addison/Kemp family, we would like to extend our sincere gratitude to all who sent condolences, prayers, gifts, and support during this difficult time. We especially want to thank you for loving Leslie and adding to the great story of her life.
