It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Fernando Rodrigues Brito, 82, who passed away on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center in Newark, NJ. He was born in Funchal, Madeira, Portugal and emigrated to the US in 1974, resided in Garfield, NJ; Passaic, NJ; and the Ironbound Section of Newark, NJ before settling in Union, NJ in 2022.
Following years as a Construction Mechanic, Fernando worked final the segment of his work career as a skilled laborer for Rocket Construction of Jersey City, NJ for 15 years, retiring at age of 69. He was the former co-owner of the Portuguese Spanish Palace in Newark, NJ in the early 90sHusband of the late Maria Elizabeth (nee Gomes) Brito; devoted and loving father of Marco Brito, Renato Brito, Glen (Angela) Brito and Bert (John) Brito; cherished grandfather of Glen Jr., Amy, Esea, Amir, Brandon, Trinity, Tyler, Austin, Cameron, Zen, Salvatore, Vincent, and Mateo; sister-in-law, Fatima Maria Gomes; great-grandfather to Castiel; dear brother of Rita Brito, Maria Brito, and Tiago Brito all of Portugal, predeceased by 3 siblings; also survived by many dear relatives and friends.
Fernando will be remembered for his dedication to his work, his entrepreneurial spirit, and the love he shared with is family and friends. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work and community spirit that will be cherished by all who knew him.
